West Chilcotin · British Columbia
Anahim Lake
Ten acres on Anahim Lake, one kilometre off Highway 20.
Suites, rooms and log cabins with water on three sides and the Coast Mountains behind them. Come for a night on the way to Bella Coola. Most people stay longer.
Where this is
Highway 20 runs from the Cariboo across the Chilcotin plateau and drops to the sea at Bella Coola. Anahim Lake sits roughly two-thirds of the way along — the natural place to break the drive before The Hill.
About 3½ hours from Williams Lake · about 2 hours down to Bella Coola, including the switchbacks of The Hill.
The lodge
Seven places to sleep, from lakeside suites to hand-built log cabins with a wood-burning furnace and firewood on the porch. Meals are cooked here and served under the timber trusses, with the lake filling the windows.

This is a small place, run by the people who own it. Call ahead with a question about the drive, the weather or where the pelicans are this week, and you’ll get a straight answer.
Guest reviews
We stayed two nights on our way through. Rooms were clean, the food was delicious, and they were very nice. Was able to use their canoe to fish Anahim as well. We really enjoyed our time here.
Wonderful place. We visited while the ownership was transitioning and both were outstandingly hospitable. Rooms were good and food was better. Listening to new owners plans afoot to make it even more exciting.
